Why Use This Productivity Calculator

Most clinicians don’t get a heads-up on where their productivity landed until payroll runs the numbers — after the shift is over and it is too late to adjust. This Productivity Calculator flips that on its head: plug in your clock-in time, your treatment minutes, and your target, and it instantly tells you the clock-out time that will get you there, updating as your schedule changes throughout the day.

How This Productivity Calculator Actually Works

Billable treatment time divided by paid time is the same formula as any productivity figure, but it is derived from your actual clock times rather than a payroll summary.

Good to know

  • Unpaid time is reciprocal. Longer lunches or additional unpaid breaks result in fewer paid hours overall, but they also reduce paid minutes, increasing your productivity percentage for the same Tx minutes.
  • Units automatically convert. The standard CPT time-based unit is 15 minutes, so 4 units equals an hour of Texas time. To match your site’s billing convention, switch to the Units toggle and set minutes-per-unit.
  • Shifts that cross midnight are managed as follows. The calculator adds a day before calculating paid minutes if clock out reads before clock in, assuming the shift rolled past midnight.

If your site treats lunch as unpaid time, you should always check the lunch box because failing to do so will inflate your paid minutes and understate your actual productivity percentage.

The entire computation will be thrown off by your minutes-per-unit ratio if you enter a unit count into the minutes field (or vice versa). Before reading the outcome, make sure the toggle is turned on.

Treating the suggested clock out as a guarantee
